Improved Drop Zones in FCPX 10.0.3 Update

Our free Drop Zone Prep Tool is obsolete. Well, just about! Its purpose was to force FCPX to honor transform changes you had made to a clip prior to adding it to a Drop Zone.

The latest FCPX update allows you to make changes to clips inside of Drop Zones – watch the video above to find out how it works. And if you’re a Motion user, discover the advantages of publishing the new Scale and Pan parameters to FCPX.

The 10.0.3 update to FCPX introduced some new functionality to Drop Zones that makes this tool somewhat obsolete. You can still use it but you should check out this new tutorial on the updated FCPX features.

Now you can maintain transform changes to a clip when you add it to a drop zone. Before you add a clip to a drop zone just apply this effect, then make it into a compound clip. This will force FCPX to honor your scale and position settings. Confused? Check out the video:
